M-M seeks savings in synergies

Mayr-Melnhof (M-M) is consolidating its two folding carton production units in Vienna into a single operation. M-M chose to specialize in the Strebersdorf site as it offers better logistics. The company aims to complete the restructuring by the end of the second quarter of 2000. M-M hopes the move will bring cost savings as well as putting the Strebersdorf unit at the forefront of the folding carton industry in Europe. The primary focus of the investment is the installation of a modern, large format printing machine, a digitized pre-press and an expansion of the infrastructure at the Strebersdorf site.
