This paper describes the equipment and the procedure used for determining the metrological characteristics of a 633 nm He-Ne laser. In addition, results are presented from a comparison carried out at the Quantum Physics Laboratory of the Czechoslovakian Institute of Metrology in Prague between the PL 2 standard laser used at this institute and the model 119 Spectra Physics He-Ne laser used at the National Institute of Metrology in Bucharest.
