MATERIALS RESEARCH AT KENNAMETAL INC.

Kennametal Inc of Latrode, Pennsylvania, has some of the best equipped hardmetal research laboratories to be found anywhere in the western hemisphere. One of its stated objectives is to relate material properties to material performance. Others are to determine exactly why tools wear and fail. Knowing how the various factors related, Kennametal hopes to be able to design and formulate better materials, whether a variation on a carbide grade, a new ceramic material, a new coating or some form of surface treatment.
