Some examples are given of measurements of the accuracy of CNC machine tools carried out with the aid of a laser interferometer system. In this case the machines were tested during positioning, repeated startup, and stepping while under programmed control. The systematic deviations of the machines from absolute accuracy during the positioning process are described.
