Methods are presented for the determination of the load-carrying capacity of such bars. It is based on the analog of the plastic torsion problem with an equal-slope figure. Apart from describing the general approach to the solution of the problem, a particular example of calculating the load-carrying capacity of a bar is presented. This bar has a cross-section in the form of a circle with two symmetrical ″flats″ and is strengthened by a thin layer. The yield point of the material of the layer varies in accordance with a linear law. The results obtained are compared with the exact analytical data. This makes it possible to establish the limits of the applicability of the proposed calculation methods.
