To study the influence on the temperature and humidity of mine air as it was moved through a greenhouse, 9. 1 m wide by 29. 3 m long quonset shaped greenhouse was erected on a strip-mine bench adjacent to an opening of a mine which had been completely worked and was abandoned. A sketch of the physical arrangement is shown. Three 36 in. diam belt-driven propellor-fans, each with a one-half HP motor, were installed in the opening to the mine to move the air through the greenhouse.
