TUNNELING IN PROXIMITY JUNCTIONS WITH PARAMAGNONS.

The authors have studied how the current voltage characteristics of a proximity junction are modified by the presence of spin fluctuations (paramagnons) on the normal side of the sandwich. The work proceeds through the solution of two coupled sets of real axis Eliashberg equations. When the characteristic paramagnon energy ( omega //S//F) is assumed to be smaller than the important phonon energies ( omega //D), as may be the case for TiBe//2, we find easily identifiable structure reflecting the paramagnon spectral density. On the other hand when omega //S//F and omega //D are of the same order of magnitude delicate interference occurs between these two processes. The recently studied specific case of Pd is considered in some detail.
