Silicon disks employ flash memories for large-capacity audio files

摘要
Flash memories attract considerable attention in the electronic industry these days, because of their non-volatile IC device and their ability to electrically erase and write as well as the data. The remarkable feature is that the stored data is not lost even after the device is power off. Developers are cultivating different applications for these sophisticated devices, even as they are refining and expanding the existing technologies for them. One of the latest achievements in the flash memory field is Toshiba's flash silicon disks using NAND-type 16M-bit flash memory cells. Compatible with 5-inch hard disk systems, the flash silicon disk features a 1.12GB memory capacity.
