摘要
As a contribution to a better estimation of the ship's manoeuvrability in canals, the article discusses especially the effect of bank suction in its complex correlation with the canal and ship parameters. By confrontation with the reactive forces mobilized by the ship in the sense of equilibrium considerations, the limiting values for the manoeuvreability under way on eccentric courses are given versus the rudder angle. The theoretical solution by an integration of the equations of ship motion, leads to very complicated models, of which the numerical evaluation is very expensive and requires the application of large-scale computers. Often therefore in practice a simplified analysis of the equilibrium conditions is preferred for dimensioning the manoeuvring width and for estimating traffic security and traffic control on navigation canals. This analysis is an item of the present investigation.
