摘要
This paper discusses five major topics that must be considered in the development of a ″unified theory of pressing″ . They are (1) the available water in porous webs, (2) the possible mechanisms of water transport, (3) the geometry of press nips, (4) the fundamental factors affecting water removal from porous webs, and (5) possible modes of water removal in a six region press nip. No attempt is made to develop quantitative relationships among the factors.
