摘要
The basic aspect and practice of a second phase design of ductile frames has been studied by an example in the tentative design of an industrial building. The building is situated in Tanggu District of Tianjin City and it is a seven-story industrial frame with non-uniformly distributed strength and rigidity in the vertical direction. To meet the requirements against moderate and strong earthquakes on deformation and strength respectively, it is estimated the building would sustain slight damage under moderate earthquake and would not collapse under strong seismic motion if grid-type stirrups for columns were used as an alternative to traditional stirrup arrangements.
