The concept of the single screw compressor in its various forms together with some refrigerant test data was presented in a previous paper. Since that time development of the compressor has enabled it to successfully compete in the market place in a wide range of refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump applications. An analysis is presented of the compressor efficiency and a description is provided of the design improvements obtained in the compressor single piece casing.
