The author looks at the future role of superalloys in energy systems expected to be operational in the not-so-distant future: where these alloys will be used, what shapes and forms will be needed and what kind of properties will be required to meet expected conditions. The discussion is restricted to the most probable systems - the ones likely to be adopted first: those for improved coal utilization, those for more efficient use of all fossil fuels and those based on nuclear energy.
