Certain basics in bin design and handling procedures can ensure reliable coal flow through a power plant and can avoid problems such as funnel flow or cohesive arches. In addition, the handling of frozen coal or pulverized coal is discussed, as well as methods of combating bin vibrations and factors governing the choice of standpipes to regulate the flow of hot gases from a pressurized pulverizer.
