摘要
The concept of electromagnetic pressure as mechanical pressure caused by electromagnetic forces is introduced. Electromagnetic pressure in liquids or gases constitutes a magnitude whose gradient is equal to the volumetric density of electromagnetic forces. for electromagnetic pressure to exist, it is necessary for the field of volumetric forces to be a potential field. Electromagnetic pressures have dimensionality of the density of energy. However, their determination as a value numerically equal to the difference of energy density leads to errors. Not only energy density but curvature of the magnetic induction lines has an effect on the magnitude of electromagnetic pressure. These pressures are equal to the density of energy only when magnetic induction lines have no curvature.
