If the analysis is limited to comparatively open areas of the shore (to avoid considering, the effect of structures on the character of wave transformation at the first stage), it is possible to use different versions of the one-dimensional theory, substantially simplifying calculation algorithms. Moreover, estimates show that the probability of breaking of tsunami waves is small, making it possible at the first stage to limit the discussion to only non-breaking waves. The inverse problem is an adequate model of the problem of considering tsunamis in calculations of shore protection and hydraulic structures: the wave field in the marine area is calculated according to wave characteristics on shore. This work discusses the simplest version of this problem in application to waves on a flat slope within the scope of the nonlinear theory of shallow water. It proposes a method for calculating the parameters of tsunamis in the zone near the waterline.
