ASEA'S VABS SERVICE REDUCES DOWNTIME AND REPAIR COSTS.

Both mechanical and electrical disturbances in rotating machinery generally lead to increased vibrations. By regularly acquiring and analyzing vibration data, it is possible, however, to detect an incipient failure at an early stage, thereby avoiding failures and reducing downtime. To enable such periodic checking of a large number of machines, ASEA has developed a system for field service called VABS, Vibration Analysis and Balancing Services, which is described in this article.
