Effect of Acid Phase Composition on Low Temperature Corrosion.

The composition of the low temperature and phase precipitated from flue gases during the combustion of residual oil, anthracite fines and a heat/residual oil mixture, in which the heat content of residual oil amounts to 0-0. 5, was investigated. Likewise, the representativeness of the determination of the SO//2 content in flue gases by the method of selective condensation was studied. It is found that the acid phase of the condensates, calling forth low-temperature corrosion, consists of a mixture of sulphuric, nitric, nitrous and organic acids. The SO//3 content determined in the flue gases by the method of selective condensation depends to a considerable extent on partial pressure of water vapors, porosity, and degree of packing of the glass filter, and some other factors.
