摘要
The U.S. nuclear industry undertook an immediate analysis of the accident and made a number of changes in the way it operates, including closer international cooperation. Political reaction was mild, and calls for a moratorium on commercial nuclear power were rejected. Longer term political fallout is more severe. In the arena of public opinion, Chernobyl reinforced existing public attitudes rather than lowering public support even further. Despite these problems, the public attitude remains positive toward nuclear power in meeting the nation's future energy needs.
