Radio-activity on the web

Today, radio and the Internet are not just developing along parallel lines, they have joined forces. More than 1,000 stations have launched Web sites. Some are just electronic billboards designed to promote programming and on-air personalities, but others are trying to reach listeners beyond the limits of their transmitters by netcasting. This article attempts to show whether netcasting represents the future of radio or is it just a technological novelty. As a first step, the forces behind the trend and a sampling of radio Web sites are explored.
