TARGETING THE TRAINING BY TAILORING THE CURRICULUM.

The first steps in planning are an assessment of training needs, and the development of a comprehensive curriculum to meet the assessed training needs. Comprehensive occupational safety and health training programs must be adequate for employees in many occupations and work environments, sometimes all in one plant. One method of industrial training need assessment is to draw upon the expertize and experience of personnel directly involved in specific work environments and operations. This article describes a new technique for assessment of training needs, and is based on surveying managers in particular work areas.
