Weld Quality and Quality Assurance of Welds Produced by the Magnetically Impelled Arc Welding Process.

The relationships between weld quality and energy input in magnetically impelled arc welding are studied in detail. It is shown that the requirements imposed on the quality of a pressure belt weld are met if the energy input in the course of the welding process is controlled and properly measured. The effect of conversion of electric power into thermal energy must be taken into account. In addition, mechanical energy involved in upsetting also represents a considerable part of the total amount of total energy requirements.
