Formation of a zoned structure in a lining based on zirconium dioxide

Operating with high-velocity, high-temperature (about 2500 K) gas currents indicates that the most promising materials for lining the walls of the gas-dynamic tracts are zirconia concretes, which combine workability and thermal-shock resistance with the attainment of high temperatures at the surface (>2200 K). Hydration-setting concretes are satisfactory; for example, those based on cement made of barium aluminate and zirconate. The composition and structure of hydration concrete based on barium aluminate and zirconate before and after tests were studied by x-ray structural and spectral analysis, and optical and scanning electron microscopy. Study of the hot and cold parts of the zoned structure shows ways of further improving the material.
