Manufacture of a Plastics Gear Wheel Series by Injection Molding.

This paper discusses technological problems encountered in the manufacture of 18 representatives of a typified series of gear wheels by injection molding of plastics with moduli 1,5; 2; 2. 5 mm, applicable to axial spacings 63, 80, 100 mm and gear ratios 1; 1. 6 and 2. 5. The process is described from corrected model through the manufacture of mold inserts and general-purpose chases up to the injection molding technology. On a practical example, the possibility of correcting basic gear wheel dimensions by modification of technologic parameters is demonstrated. In conclusion, a structural evaluation of nylon 6 and polyacetal injection molded gear wheels is given along with their economic estimate.
