Results are presented of a joint study, undertaken by several foundries, into partial substitution of gas for coke in cupola operations. Topics include industrial testing of coke-operated cupolas, plants for gas delivery and combustion in cupolas, coke-gas melting tests with a hot blast water-cooled 1300 mm diameter cupola, and analysis of the operating conditions of a coke-gas operated cupola.
