Simpson to close paper mill

Simpson Paper Co. will close is paper mill in Gilman Vermont and its converting plant in Burlington, Iowa. The mill which produces specialty papers for the security documents and blue print markets, employs approximately 50 salaried and 120 hourly employees. Simpson is developing a detailed mill closure plan, employees are being informed of severance benefits and curtailment activities, and customers and vendors are being notified.
