Newly developing high-resolution seismic methods that utilize very short seismic wavelengths are discussed. These methods permit a more detailed structural and, in particular, stratigraphic analysis to be made. Conventional seismic techniques produce wavelengths which typically range from 100 to 300 ft. The new high-resolution methods utilize wavelengths up to one-tenth this long, which greatly improves the delineation of thin reservoirs.
