The restructuring of the electricity supply system in the Netherlands created new opportunities for district heating and industrial combined heat and power schemes with, in many cases, the utility companies taking part in joint ventures to build and operate the power plants for their clients. The air pollution aspects are taken ito account in the construction and operation of the power plants.
