摘要
It is reported that novel 2n-pole magnetic field systems have been developed for accelerator and ray-transport magnets used in high-energy-particle physics. By proper arrangement of sectorial windings with constant current density it is possible to produce symmetric dipole, quadrupole, sextupole, etc magnetic fields of high precision. As illustrative examples, the author reports about the first superconductivity 1-m long 5-t quadrupole lens and the correction magnets of the new 800-Mev booster synchrotron of CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.
