Renewal of ballasted track in the Paris metro

The RATP Group has been renewing the ballasted track of the metro rail system for over 10 years. The renewal work is carried out at night on line sections where service is suspended in the evening. Tailor-made railway equipment is used, which is adapted to the specific metro environment with its small tunnels and tight curves. The original poor-quality ballast is renewed to a depth of 0.25 m below the bottom surface of the sleepers. All new lines are equipped with vibration damping systems.
