摘要
Today's electronic devices - from home appliances to computer backup systems - require powerful, yet adaptable battery systems to meet the stringent power needs placed upon them. Thus, the design engineer must be familiar with the latest in battery technology and applications to produce a workable, cost-effective design. Practicing engineers rarely can afford the time for either method. While it is not necessary to become battery experts, design engineers can benefit by following basic guidelines for battery selection. Knowledge of available batteries and their specific strengths and weaknesses can facilitate the design task. The two major types of rechargeable battery types today are nickel-cadmium and lead-acid, the latter being the more popular.
