This article deals with the German ERNO Rs 35 semisubmersible which is about to leave the drawing board and the model testing stage. The semisubmersible model would be especially well suited for hostile drilling areas north of the 62nd parallel, as it shows good performance in high-sea conditions. Operating characteristics and technical data regarding the semisubmersible are summarized. The major feature of the RS 35 design is its circular pontoon system with four supporting columns to carry the deck.
