A hot forming method is developed for PM parts with longitudinal grooves on the base of forcing working element of pressing tool into a body of heated porous preform. Undamaged gear-wheels with a module of 2.5 mm are fabricated. The effect of preform starting porosity, its shape, preliminary plastic deformation ratio and geometric parameters on the grain-oriented zone of part bulge is shown. The maximum of the latter takes place at starting porosity 15% without preliminary reduction and at 20-25% with preliminary reduction that gives positive effect on mechanical and operating properties of parts.
