If the signals in a digital data transmission channel are delayed, the bandwidth required for minimizing the number of errors is several times greater than the usually accepted minimum. If circuits with minimal bandwidth are employed, the number of errors increases sharply. A convenient practical expression is obtained for the estimating error probability in a narrow-band channel with delayed signals.
