West Austria Gas Pipeline Project.

This article describes the West Austria Gas Pipeline, now in the planning stages, which is scheduled to begin transporting natural gas, chiefly of Eastern origin, as of Jan. 1, 1980. The line will run westward and, on its way through the Austrian regions lying north of the Danube, will make a considerable contribution toward regional natural gas supply. The first stage of the 250-km, 32-in. pipeline calls for a capacity of about 4 billion cu m/yr. A progress report on the project is given and some completed engineering work is described.
