CURRENT TOPICS IN MATERIALS SCIENCE, VOLUME 1, 1978.

The book presents some highlights of materials research. Theoretical and experimental aspects of crystal growth and evaporation are first dealt with. The most important semiconducting materials are then reviewed. Next, new experimental approaches in high-temperature chemistry are presented which give access to the synthesis of several groups of new refractory materials (single crystalline, polycrystalline or amorphous) with interesting properties. The current knowledge of LiNbO//3, one of the most important dielectrics, is described. Finally, new approaches to one of the most important problems of modern solid state chemistry i. e. , nonstoichiometry, are discussed.
