NEW METHOD SPEEDS PRESSURE-RELIEF MANIFOLD DESIGN.

A new method developed for the design of pressure-relief manifold systems used in refineries is described here. It is easier to use than older methods because it eliminates a very tedious trial-and-error solution based on the assumed outlet pressure. The new method calculates the flare-header back pressure directly without trial and error, and is based on the isothermal flow equation and the outlet pressure.
