The green team

Wallenius Wilhelmsen is working to minimize the impact of its own activities on the environment by working together with international organizations, governments, customers and suppliers. In 2004, the company achieved a 10% reduction in consumption of bunkers per transported unit and 98% utilization of the fleet. The company is well on track as far as minimizing leakage of cooling agents, oils in bilge water, and the use of environmentally friendly chemicals is concerned. NOx emissions have been reduced by 12% in g/kWh over a five-year period by the installation of fuel calves of the sliding type. The company's target of 1.5% sulphur content in fuel was reached in 2004, well in advance of regulations.
