Plastics and rubbers in Ford cars

This is a report on activities of the new Ford Research Center in the United Kingdom which is devoted to evaluation of new materials for automobile applications. It has been revealed that problems of crash protection, weathering and creep must be solved before plastics can be accepted for body panels in mass produced cars. Safety is the primary Ford consideration and methods of occupant protection are analyzed in terms of plastics, rubbers and composites.
