摘要
The processing and cast-resin properties of a potential filament winding epoxy system based on the diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A diluted with the diglycidylether of 1,4-butanediol and curved with mixed aromatic amines have been studied. This system, which has an initial viscosity of 1. 2 Pa. s at 25 degree C and a gel time of 22. 6 h for a 30-g mass, cures to give a tensile strength of 90 MPa (13 ksi), a rupture elongation of 8. 9%, and a modulus of 2. 75 GPa (400 ksi). While it is a promising system for filament winding applications, its cast resin properties fall below those of previously used systems where the diluent was bis(epoxycyclopentyl) ether, a compound that is no longer commercially available.
