EFFECT OF INTER-CROPPING OF MARVEL GRASS (DICHANTHIUM ANNULATUM) WITH DIFFERENT LEGUMES ON FORAGE PRODUCTION.

Field experiments were undertaken from 1972 through 1975 at Anand Campus of Gujarat Agricultural University to study the effect of intercropping of Marvel (Dichanthium annulatum) with different legumes viz. cowpea, clusterbean, kidneybean and siratro on forage production under rainfed condition. The treatment differences in respect of green forage yield were significant in all the years while for dry forage yield the treatment differences were significant only in the year 1973 and 1975. The pooled results revealed that Marvel intercropped with all the legumes yielded significantly higher green forage yield than Marvel alone.
