The aim of this work is to study the dependence of the cold-formability of ferritic steels on their structure and alloying. The assessment of cold-formability is based on material parameters. Particular attention is paid to the effects of chromium on the yield stress. The applicability of material parameters describing the stress-strain relationship, especially strain-hardening, and those predicting ductility in terms of formability maps, is evaluated. The utility of uniaxial tensile testing in the assessment of cold-formability is discussed.
