摘要
This paper is a basic investigation into the boronizing of steel-bonded carbide (SBC). It investigates the kinetics of boronizing for three grades of SBC which are obtained for industrial applications using the liquid (salt bath) method of boronizing. The activation energy of the boronizing process is calculated for the three samples. Also measured were the hardness, coefficient of friction, and resistance to corrosion and oxidation for boronized and non-boronized materials. The author observed and analyzed the microstructure of boronized SBC by microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray analysis.
