In the reported experiments, the solubility of naphthalene in five organic solvents has been studied. A marked deviation from the ideality of the solutions formed by naphthalene with such power solvents as sulfolane, pyrrolid-2-one, hexametapol, and DEG has been found. A satisfactory correlation of the experimental results on the solubility of naphthalene with the values of the effective dipole moment has been obtained for some highly polar organic solvents. It is proposed to calculate the solubility of naphthalene in nonpolar solvents (parafinic hydrocarbons) by means of a modified Shreder equation using the values found for the differential heats of mixing at infinite dilution of the solid in the solvent. The applicability of the equation of regular solutions using the dispersion component of the solubility parameter for calculating the solubility of naphthalene in nonpolar and feebly polar solvents has been shown.
