Application of computers to figure skating competitions is described. The computer is a Honeywell 1648 timesharing system; the competition site equipment is a portable terminal; the competitions are the various regional, sectional and national championships in figure skating conducted by the US Figure Skating Association. It was used at 3 competitions in the '71-'72 season - the Southwest Pacific Coast Championships, the Midwestern Championships, and finally the US Championships. Each time it was used, the computer provided two things, up-to-the-minute intermediate standings and fast final results.
