The criticisms that have been applied to site investigations can be broadly classified into two areas, namely those relating to technical standards of drilling, sampling, testing, etc. and those relating to organizational procedures such as contract conditions, specifications, etc. While recognizing that some progress has been made by particular firms, it is evident that the practice of many site investigations is still not adequate.
