A STUDY IS MADE OF THE THERMODYNAMIC FETURES OF THE REDUCTION IN CAF//2-AL//2O//3-CAO-P//2O//5-TYPE MELTS APPROXIMATINGANF-1 AND ANF-6 SLAGS. KEEPING THE AMOUNT OF ALUMINUM OXIDEAS LOW AS POSSIBLE REDUCES THE PHOSPHORUS MORE THOROUGHLY. GRANULATED ALUMINUM CHARGED ONTO THE SURFACE OF THE MELT, AND THE INTRODUCTION OF METAL CHIPS AND HOLDING THE MELT FOR 20 MIN REDUCES PHOSPHORUS MORE EFFICIENTLY OWING TO ITS REMOVAL FROM THE REACTION ZONE IN THE FORM OF IRON PHOSPHATES.
