High power-densities when focusing the laser radiation, and simultaneously suitable spatial-temporal parameters of radiation in the focus of the focusing system are needed particularly in plasma investigations, laser-microfusion experiments, or attempts at constructing an X-ray laser. In neodymium-glass laser systems there occur a number of physical phenomena that have an effect upon the spatial-temporal parameters of laser radiation. In the present paper this problem is discussed in reference to the parameters of radiation in the vicinity of the focus of the focusing system.
