Unchlorinated Cooling Lubricants Equivalent to Chlorinated Products.

Stricter legislation for disposal of used oils and cooling lubricants have confronted the metal-working and metal-processing industries with the alternative of either accepting higher disposal costs for conventional chlorinated products or of using unchlorinated cooling lubricants. Since chlorine compounds have for decades been used as chemically reactive high-pressure additives in cooling lubricants, users are concerned that unclhorinated products might not be as effective as chlorinated ones. However, unchlorinated cooling lubricants have been in use for quite some time now and have meanwhile proven in practical application that they are equivalent to chlorinated cooling lubricants.
