摘要：
A fairly brief summary of present day trends in the field of metal pretreatment is presented. The evolution of these processes is mainly dictated by three interdependent factors: technical development, customer requirement, and the ever increasing demands of the environment. Recent trends have been toward the use of milder products and away from the strongly alkaline cleaners.
